What Time of Day Do You Want It To Be?

I used to be a night person. I could stay up half the night, and still function well the next day. But no matter what time I went to bed, I did not function well in the morning. I still don't. I move slowly. I think slowly.

The problem is, I'm not a night person anymore. I'm longing for bed well before 10:00. I don't get there often, but I still long for it.

Even then, I still don't like getting up early. I don't function well in the morning.

There are good things about being an early riser. There's that aspect of having the whole day in front of you. There are all the things you can accomplish with an early start to the day.

Plus, there's the beauty of the morning. How inspiring is it to sit with a cup of coffee and watch the daylight increase. (I'm not saying watch the sun come up because that's a little too fanatical for this non-morning person.) But I do like the early morning, watching a mist rise off the pond behind our house, and the sunlight stream through the trees.

Unfortunately, even if I enjoy the scene, by the time I'm through with it and ready to start my day, I feel like I need a nap.

So now that I'm not a morning person or a night owl, what am I? I think I'm someone whose day got even shorter than it was already!

So tell me--morning person or night owl? And why?

  1. Morning...no question. I love the mornings and am at my best and most productive then. Around 3 I like a cup of tea and a short nap. Then I'm good til about 10.

  3. Morning?
    What's that???
I'm a total insomniac and could actually stay up all night and sleep all day, if allowed. I usually make myself go to bed around 1:30 am, then get up at 9:00. I know I'm lucky to be able to keep that schedule. However, I wish I were a morning person, but it's just no happenin'.

  4. Me, I'm a day person, like you I am slow and grumpy in the morning, and tired and grumpy in the evenings.

I suppose part of that is being a Mom of two little ones. I'm usually in bed shortly after they go down. I tell myself I'm going to read for a while but rarely make it through a whole chapter or article of anything, whether it be book or magazine before I am sawing logs.

  5. I am a night person. Probably because I have four children and after they are asleep is when I get more accomplished. Yet, I long for more "mornings". I want to give God the first part of me, and not the last part, which when I wait until the evening can be a struggle.

  6. Morning person after a shower, especially if it's early. I'm usually relaxing by 9:30pm and sleeping by 10:00 or 10:30pm.

I do like getting things done in the first part of the day, but often, in summer, I like to linger in my PJ's and do very little, but too many of those days and I've got a problem with not getting things done.

It always feels good to get things done & then have some fun too.
    Take care,
    Nannette

  7. I'm definitely NOT a morning person. I was an insomniac until about 5 years ago. Now I'm falling asleep earlier and earlier. I usually hold out until between 11-12pm, but sometimes, I give up earlier. I think things started changing when I hit 30...old age set it. ;-)
